Beating Hard and Super opponents in Stage 4 as a Healer
After reaching Kingdom Tower 3 (K3), you must now complete Battle Stage 4 before you can progress to K4 (and of course accumulate the necessary Bronze and common and rare resources).
To repeat: there are two major choke points to reaching K4: you need a lot of Ember (5000), and you must clear the Stage 4 Battlefield.
Here is what I have found to be the best strategy to beat opponents, especially Hards and Supers as a Healer:
- Get to know the Element Cycle, .i.e. Air → Fire → Water → Earth → Air, so that Air beats Water beats Earth, etc. in an endless cycle.
Therefore, always optimise your gear, so that you have all your gear at +2, or (if you do not have a full set of that particular element at the same level as the rest), let no item be at -2. So, your weakest gear item should be no lower than +0.
As a Healer, your passive skills are as important as your attack skills. At the lowest level, you have Smite, and the passive skill: Heal. at higher levels, you gain more passive skills - Holy Shield (unlocks at LVL 15), Purify (unlocks at LVL 30), etc. Generally, you will have reached LVL 15 as a Healer when you progress to K3. This means you will have acquired the Holy Shield. I wish someone had told me how useful this passive skill could be. NB: use your passive skills to your advantage!
Battle tactics, especially against Hards and Supers: Your first action must be to Smite! If the Mob attacks, either Smite again, or use Holy Shield next, depending on the damage it caused to your HP. If the damage was not much (less than half the regeneration points you get when you Heal), Smite again. If the damage was greater than that, use Holy Shield, followed by Heal. This will reduce the Mob's damage over two turns. Repeat as often as you need to until you see your HP increasing, then alternate between Smite, Holy Shield, Heal, Smite.
If the Mob starts Charging Up, definitely Smite again, then when its next action will be to attack, use Holy Shield. After it attacks, Heal - its next attack will have reduced damage because your Shield is effective over two turns. Now start repeating the cycle:
Smite, Holy Shield, Heal, Smite.
If the Mob readies a Special Move, use Holy Shield, then Heal, then Smite. The Shield reduces the damage, Heal restores HP, and the Holy Shield is still in effect during the round when you select Smite.
If the Mob defends twice in a row, Smite again, then repeat the cycle.
Because I also have Purify available, I sometimes use Heal followed by Purify before switching to Holy Shield, Heal, Smite.
I found this method keeps my HP near maximum throughout the battle, and I rarely lose. Of course, this is also partly due to the fact that I spent a lot of Bronze and $TLRPG on upgrading my equipment.
