You are right, and the screenshots made it obvious — thank you. A pet out on a trip was being drawn twice: once by its travelling marker, moving along its route, and once standing on its land. The land marker knew the pet was away (it even tinted its status dot green for it) but never stopped drawing the pet itself. Fixed on the test build: a pet away on a trip is drawn once, where its mission says it is, and the land keeps its own flag. It lands with the next update.
