Revolutionize gear
Gear has to be addressed for the game to be interesting again
Why it doesn't work?
Right now getting gear is boring, repetitive. The fact is that gear shouldn't be something you just grab in the order of hundreds, it looses the interesting aspect of actually owning it
Other than that levels make even less sense. Let's say I'm a kingdom 3 player and get access to the bronze armor chest, this means I can pull common level 3 gear and rarely level 4 or 5 (or even rarer 6). If I want to upgrade my new level 3 gear I'd need to spend 5 gear for each star (5 stars total), so to get to level 4 I'd need 5x5x5x5x5=3125 gear items. Now IF you do have 3125 level 3 gear items of the same type, it means you opened a shit ton of chests and will likely have hit a lucky level 4 or 5 or even 6. Now that means that level 3 gears become useless because to beat a level 5 gear you'd need 3125x3125=9.765.625 level 3 gears, at the same time you can give up upgrading level 5 to level 6 because you'd need still 3125 level 5 gears to get to level 6 which is impossible due to rarity. You better off getting to the new kingdom level and unlock the next chest
This ends up in: players getting bored about gear, not upgrading it, and just having thousands of gear sitting on the inventory just for nothing, NOTHING AT ALL
How gear can be re-imagined
- Gear becomes something rare, collectible, perhaps just as pets.
- Armory chests are gone
- Gear items can be obtained in battle and based on the level of the monster, of the stage you have a higher chance of hitting rare gear
- Gear is no more type + element but they are unique, for example Thorned helmet: grass type + thorns effect
- Gear has rarity, the same Thorned helmet can be found in common, rare, epic etc. just as pets, and each rarity increases its base stats and its special ability (e.g. if the common Thorned helmet reflected 0.3% of the damage, the legendary one reflects 2% + stuns maybe idk)
- This allows gear to be something players can trade and actually pay to get gear that match their play style
- Unique gears allow also the possibility to make events/adventures where a set of unique is more likely to appear when defeating monsters
- Gear intermediate stars are gone
- Gears are upgraded by using them in the fight and not by forging them together
